One of the first things most of us do as we enter the New Year is look up the market holidays. As a trader, knowing when you have the time to pause and recalibrate your trading strategies and when to make decisions based on the opening or closing of the market are both very important.

If you’ve looked at the lists above, you’re sure to have noticed the number of holidays on a Monday or Friday – offering us long weekends. What’s more, longer weekends can get even longer if you club a leave on a Tuesday after a holiday that lands on a Monday, or a leave on a Thursday with a holiday that lands on a Friday.
Even if you don’t plan to fully utilize the long weekends, it would be wise to keep track of these holidays as they could affect your trading strategy and the market volumes too.
Next, let’s talk about the New Year activity that’s only ushered in around Diwali – Muhurat Trading. In case you missed it, Muhurat Trading is a 1-hour trading session conducted on the day of Diwali to obtain prosperity in trading and blessings of success in the coming year.
Did you know BSE first conducted Muhurat Trading in 1957? And NSE only began this tradition in 1992. Muhurat Trading, this 2024, should be conducted on 1st November on the occasion of Diwali-Laxmi Puja. We’ll notify you of the timings as soon as the market hours are decided and released.
