You trade shares, which means buying and selling stocks, through your trading account and they are stored electronically in your Demat account. Earlier, individuals had to hold physical share certificates and send them physically to the broker for settlement. But now all transactions and settlement of stocks happen electronically through a Demat account.

How To Open a Demat and Trading Account with Arihant?
You can open your trading and Demat account with Arihant in literally 7 minutes. It is a simple and paperless process. To make it easy for you, we’ve explained the process by following the steps:
Step 1: Go to ekyc.arihantcapital.com
Step 2: Enter your Mobile Number and verify it with the OTP that you will receive instantly via an SMS on the number that you provided.
Step 3: Once you have verified your mobile number, the next step is entering your email id. You will now receive a verification email. Go to your inbox, open the email and click on the Verify your email button. You cannot finish your application until your email verification is complete. So make sure to do it right away.
Step 4: Kick off your application by sharing your PAN details and date of birth. These details will make opening your account a lot easier. Through pan-card we will fetch your details via KRA so you don’t have to fill in basic details or go through any verification process.
Step 5: Click “Continue” on the welcome screen of your application.
You enter the “Personal details” section. For your convenience, Arihant picks up some information from a pre-verified source called the KRA database. Your name, address, gender, and father’s name are all filled automatically. You just need to fill up your marital status, occupation & education, your annual income & trading experience, and your mother’s name.
When you see this screen, you will notice that the pre-filled fields are greyed out, which means you will not be able to edit this information at this stage. This is done so that your account opening experience with Arihant is hassle-free and you don’t need to submit any additional documents.

Optional Step:
In case your details are not picked up, you will need to do an additional step and register on DigiLocker. You can access DigiLocker with your Aadhar number and OTP. You will now need to upload your PAN here.
Step 6: Your pre-verified address is picked up from the KRA database. Please click on “Continue” to move ahead. In case you have moved recently, or there is any discrepancy in the address provided, you can get it changed after your account is activated by reaching out to ekyc@arihantcapital.com.
Step 7: Enter nominee details. Adding a nominee is optional, but we recommend that you add one to your account. If you slide to “Yes”, the below screen will appear, enter the nominee details. In case you are nominating a minor, you will need to submit guardian details as well. You can add up to 3 nominees and change the % to be allocated to each nominee. Additional documents for address proof will be required for each nominee you add.
Step 8: Enter the details of an active bank account in your name. We will transfer ₹1 to your account to welcome you to Arihant (and to verify that it’s truly yours).
Step 9: Read and understand the declarations and brokerage plans. You will also need to verify if you are a resident of India or a politically exposed person.
Step 10: You will now reach the document upload section. Your PAN and Aadhar are automatically uploaded from the KRA database and DigiLocker. You can snap a picture and sign online. Alternatively, you can upload a picture or a signature from your system.
Optional Documents
- If you want to trade in Futures and Options, you may be required to submit an additional income proof.
- If the transfer of ₹1 to your bank account had failed, you will need to submit a canceled cheque.
- If you are adding a nominee, you will need to upload the nominee/ guardian’s address proof.
Step 11: Proceed to eSign your application with NSDL. You will be redirected to the NSDL website, and you can eSign by using your Aadhar OTP.
Step 12: You are all set! You just finished your account application with Arihant in under 7 minutes! If any additional details are required, the eKYC team will reach out to you.
